If you spend on advertising and cannot tell which calls came from it, you cannot tell whether it is working. A separate number on each source means every call is attributed to something.
How we actually do it
Dedicated numbers per source — website, Google listing, ads, a flyer — all forwarding to your normal phone. Calls are counted, timed and attributed, with missed calls flagged so ANSWER can pick them up. Recording is available but off by default: recording a call requires informing the other party, so it is opt-in and configured deliberately rather than switched on because it exists.
